Shin Shin raised nearly 10 million dollars in donations, and put in countless human and material resources, and worked together with Chinese Overseas offices and local Education Bureau at all levels to support primary schools in rural China.<\/p>\n

To achieve our stated mission, Shin Shin has applied three stages of development into operation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. 1997 <\/span>Stage I \u2013 School Construction\/Renovation <\/strong>
    \n347 Shin Shin schools and reading rooms in 25 provinces or municipalities have been renovated or constructed, and over 320,000 children have been benefited by Shin Shin Educational Foundation.<\/li>\n
  2. 2002 <\/span>Stage II \u2013 Basic Facility Improvement<\/strong>
    \nWe began to realize that the difficulty lies not in building or remodeling a new school building, but in ensuring the quality of education that the children are receiving. Therefore, we started \u201cfollow-up programs\u201d to help address some of the quality issues beyond brick and mortar. From purchasing needed educational equipment (desks, computers, etc.), offering scholarships, providing Hepatitis B vaccines, to training English teachers, sending books, we worked our best to make a difference in those children’s lives.<\/li>\n
  3. 2002 <\/span>Stage III \u2013 Education Initiatives<\/strong>
    \nWhile the effort of school construction\/renovation and basic facility improvement continue, the demand to enhance the learning environment (including educational hardware, software, and teaching\/learning techniques) in those disadvantaged rural schools is ever mounting. In the last three years, we have taken a series of steps to further strengthen our educational programs and to position ourselves for greater impact. The impact relies not only on our operation strategies and limited financial resources, but also on the availability of our volunteer resources and know-hows. The following programs have been initiated or strengthened to produce wonderful results, leading Shin Shin one step closer to our vision.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    With supporting school infrastructure construction and overall development as the theme and enhancing teaching quality and solid learning environment as the goal, Shin Shin provides need-based support targeting small-scale schools, and continues traditional new school constructions and facility improvement projects.<\/p>\n

    With enhancing education and teaching quality as the theme, Shin Shin provides a series of training programs and online community-building platforms to rural principals and teachers, and donated audio-visual equipment to promote digital learning and online courses, which are especially important for small-scale schools with limited resources.<\/p>\n

    Reading is the foundation for children\u2019s intellectual growth. It is the most effective way to improve the quality of rural education and balance the education development between urban and rural areas. The Enlightenment Reading Program delivers high-quality books to rural children, builds reading corners\/reading rooms, promotes education through reading, and funds the \u201creading month\u201d activities. We also train teachers to guide students to develop observation, reasoning, and critical thinking skills through reading. Teachers take the lead to organize the \u201creading month\u201d activities that help children become more interested in reading, learn reading methods, and develop good reading habits. We believe that mastering the reading will change the destiny of rural children.<\/p>\n
