On the afternoon of August 8, the “2026 Xinxin Xiangrong Summer Teacher Training,” jointly organized by the Xinxin Education Foundation, Beijing Xiangrong Public Welfare Foundation, and the China Rural Education Development Research Institute of Northeast Normal University, successfully concluded at Qingdao Open University.
During the 10-day in-depth training, more than 160 rural teachers and principals from across the country gathered in Qingdao. This training closely followed the theme of “Teacher Core Competencies,” using cutting-edge concepts to guide curriculum design and practical practice, comprehensively enhancing the core competencies of participating teachers, subject professional abilities, AI-powered teaching, innovative courses, and class management skills
I. Empowering with diverse courses: Creating a new paradigm for holistic development
This training carefully planned a variety of workshops and specialized training classes, providing teachers with “cutting-edge concepts” and providing “practical tools,” guiding them through “on-site practice,” truly achieving “learning by doing” and “applying what is learned.”
1. AI Empowerment Workshop — Empowering Education with Technology
Mr. Zhou Huajie, founder of Sanyou PBL Academy, gave a lecture titled “AI Empowerment Workshop,” progressing step by step with the main theme of “Empowering Yourself—Empowering Students—Empowering the Future.” The courses cover AI-assisted personal learning, instructional design, PBL project planning, and efficient sharing in professional fields. The participating teachers practiced the entire process on computers, mastering practical AI tools and reconstructing a new educational concept of “human-machine collaboration,” creating an AI teaching assistance webpage and a personal AI second brain on site
2. PBL & SEL Fusion Workshop — Making Learning More Warm
Teacher Lu Ying from NIO Education led participants in an in-depth exploration of the five core competencies of SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making), as well as the integration of the PBL (Project-Based Learning) framework with disciplines and projects. Using local PBL project design as a case study, participants experienced using the PBL framework and integrating SEL strategies. From the complete process of “experience—understanding—design—creation,” they produced a series of creative course upgrade plans
3. Class Management and Capacity Building Workshop — Be a happy educator
Teachers Guo Yaling and Wang Lan from Beijing Aiyoufang conducted in-depth training focusing on three major modules: “Skillful Student Education,” “Effective Class Management,” and “Happiness and Self-Cultivation.” From interpreting students’ behavioral psychology to building class culture, and then to teachers managing their own emotions and stress, it helps teachers achieve a mindset leap from “managing students” to “managing the class,” and seeking a happy path to teaching
4. Chinese and Math Intensive Class — Deeply rooted in the classroom, precise teaching
- Chinese Language Training Class: Led by Han Hui, Vice Principal of Jilin City Fengman District Teacher Training School, focusing on the layout and analysis of unified textbooks. Using a “lecture + action research + roundtable forum + achievement presentation” model, teachers are guided to use learning tools to promote the implementation of “integrated teaching and assessment.”
- Mathematics Training Class: Lectured by Wang Meng, Vice Principal of Jingyue Campus of Northeast Normal University Affiliated Primary School, centered on the concept of “teaching by learning,” improving classroom teaching effectiveness through teaching record discussions, master teacher classroom observations, and live classroom demonstrations, within the “learning-research-refinement-exhibition” closed loop
During this period, Chinese and math seed teachers assisted the lecturers in organizing group discussions and sharing, playing a good “seed” role.
5. PBL Local Curriculum Class — Exploring Local Wisdom, Rooted in Local Education
Led by Dr. Wang Haiying, with teachers Wang Xiaoping, Liu Xinyan, and Kang Yun jointly participating, the local culture course presents the entire process of PBL local curriculum development. From how to deeply explore local resources and select local themes, to how to design local courses using the PBL framework, and teaches specific implementation strategies such as nature observation, educational drama, and interview surveys.
Several local seed teachers, including Chang Lili, Peng Jingfang, and Wang Xiaoye, also shared practical cases. The unique “Local Specialty Expo” greatly stimulated everyone’s creative enthusiasm. Teachers learned and practiced as they went, ultimately refining practical and distinctive local curriculum plans
6. Reading Education—Building a New Bookish Campus Ecosystem Together
The reading education courses are taught by teachers Wu Yifei, Tang Yan, Wang Haitao, Zhu Lina, and Zhou Bing from the Hunan Province Dream Flying Xiang Reading Education Development Service CenterCentered on “School Reading System Construction and Practical Reading Lesson Teaching,” it carries out multiple specialized courses such as “Strategies for Coordinated Promotion of School Reading Education,” “Standardized Management of Reading Rooms and Subject Integration,” “Book Reporting and Exchange for Middle and Upper Grades,” and “Picture Book Teaching for Lower Grades.” Through “theory + lesson plan design + classroom practical exercises,” it promotes the comprehensive enhancement of reading education awareness among principals and teachers.
II. Guidance from Renowned Lectures: Lighting the Lamp for Rural Education
For the first time, the training featured a “Literacy Lecture,” inviting several renowned educators to broaden the educational horizons of participating teachers
On August 5th, renowned education expert and Honorary Director of the New Education Research Institute, Mr. Li Zhenxi, delivered a wonderful lecture titled “Spending a Lifetime Searching for That Surprising ‘Me’.”
Drawing on his years of educational practice, Mr. Li deeply explained the importance of respecting students’ individuality and building positive teacher-student relationships through touching teacher-student stories. He encouraged rural teachers to persist in ‘practice, thinking, reading, and collaboration,’ continuously enriching themselves and becoming educators with a sense of happiness
On the first day of training, Dr. Wang Haiying from Northeast Normal University, Teacher Xu Li, a renowned educator from the inaugural Jingchu Education, and Professor Sun Zhong from Capital Normal University each delivered high-level keynote presentations. The experts’ multidimensional intellectual exchanges ignited the seeds of education in the teachers’ hearts.
III. Witnessing moments of growth: Returning with honors
At the graduation ceremony on the afternoon of August 8, trainees showcased their gains and transformations over the past ten days through unique program performances
- Outstanding Student Commendation: Yang Yiqing, President of the Xinxin Education Foundation, Ma Yang, Executive Vice Chairman of the Beijing Xiangrong Public Welfare Foundation, Dr. Wang Haiying, and other experts presented certificates and prizes to the “Outstanding Summer Training Trainees.” The 100 personal books donated by Mr. Li Zhenxi were also presented as special prizes to outstanding students
- Seed Teacher Program: The “2026 Seed Teacher Award” and the second “Xinxin Excellent Seed Teacher Award” were presented on site (three teachers with outstanding contributions received laptop incentives). President Yang Yiqing gave a detailed introduction to the growth process of the “Xinxin Seed Teacher Program,” highly praised the rapid transformation of Chinese, math, and local seed teachers, and looked forward to more seed teachers playing a leading and radiating role to lead more rural teachers in growing together
Conclusion: Walking with light, pursuing the fragrance of education
In his closing speech, Xinxin Education Foundation President Yang Yiqing spoke emotionally: “Expert lectures make us reflect on ‘what it means to be a teacher’ and ‘the essence of education’; subject and thematic training teaches us ‘how to teach a good class’; AI gives us a second brain; PBL and SEL inject warmth into the course. Seeing the sparkle in the teachers’ eyes is the best reward ”
Ten days of brief gathering, accumulating lasting strength. When more than 160 rural teachers returned to the rural classroom with brand-new concepts and methods, the seeds of education had already taken root deep in the countryside
“Education is like one tree shaking another, one cloud pushing another.” May every Xinxin educator embrace this light and warmth, illuminating the future of more rural children!
