Shin Shin Educational Foundation organized 2016 annual meeting, title “happy words & happy wishes”, for thanksgiving and fundraising in Cupertino Quinlan Community Center at December 10. Members of Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco attended this meeting, including Ren Faqiang, Zhang Lin and Yu Zhichao. Savita Vaidhyanathan, mayor of Cupertino City, Darcy Paul, deputy mayor of Cupertino, and former mayors Barry Chang and Orrin Mahoney attended too. The other VIPs include Peter Troop and Kathy Yates on behalf of Cupertino Rotary Club. Shin Shin founders Shao Zhongquan, Wan Jiafu, chairman Zang Dahua, vice chairman Steve Ting and president Yuan Wen attended the meeting.

This meeting received enthusiastic responses from local municipal government and the community. At beginning, Savita Vaidhyanathan, mayor of Cupertino, warmly welcomed the Foundation’s annual meeting in Cupertino, and highly praised the 19-year-long local community involvement and dedication to education in China’s remote and poor rural areas. She also represented the city government to name 12/10/2016 as “Shin Shin Day”, and presented a proclamation. At the same time, she expressed the hope to visit China in 2017, so as to deepen the understanding of the status of rural education in China, promote friendship and mutual trust between Chinese and American people.

In recent 20 years, Shin Shin has been focusing on China remote and poor rural areas’ children education. The unremitting efforts have also been appreciated and highly valued by the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco. Consul General Luo Linquan sent a congratulatory letter, in which he expressed his affirmation to Shin Shin’s contribution to China education charitable causes, and hoped that by continuing to carry forward the virtues of selfless devotion and dedication, and contribute to the development of China’s education charity forces.

Ren Faqiang, deputy consul general of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, thanked the overseas Chinese for their patriotic love and affection, and expressed admiration for the efforts and dedication to the rural education in China. He said: “It’s easy for people to do one good thing, but it’s really valuable to continuously do good things like Shin Shin. In the future Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco will support Shin Shin as always!

Silicon Valley Dance Academy, the Bluebird Foundation sign language team conducted a “let the world full of love” sign language show. Silicon Valley Dance Academy also performed “cradle of love” and a Hiphop dance. Their graceful dance made audiences understanding that art education could bring great changes for children. Alvin Lee sang two songs: “I love you China”, “My heart will go on”. Appolo Art Academy 10-year-old Samantha Wu designed the annual meeting logo and signature board. The selected painting won International Merit Award of the United Nations World Peace Organization.

The success of this annual meeting depends on contribution from all people who supported Shin Shin in the long-term. Yuan Wen, Shin Shin president, pointed out that in 2016, Shin Shin donated three elementary schools, dozens of computer classrooms and libraries, held training classes for more than 60 school principals, also organized training classes for more than 700 teachers in methods of online and face to face, donated a large number of cultural and sport facilities, carried out quality education programs and activities for tens of thousands of students. As of the end of November 2016, Shin Shin has donated 346 elementary schools in 25 China provinces and cities, cumulatively donated 10 million US dollars, and become a stable and sustainable charity force. Thanks to the full confidence and long-term support from the donors, the selfless dedication of hundreds of volunteers from all over the world, and the concern and support from the well-meaning people in all sectors of the community. With all these supports Shin Shin can do all the jobs and adhered from nineties of the last century to the present.
